Emu Emax SE
Well, what can I say. The Emu Emax SE has been pretty much been left in the dust in the synth sampler technology market. This was one of the best 12-bit sampler that first hit the market in 1986, and was used on countless records from all types of music. The 16-bit samplers came along shortly thereafter, and made these pretty obsolete. I've hung on to mine because there are still many nice, good quality useable sounds. Emu Systems has always had a great reputation for their samplers and sampler libraries. They develop excellent sounds (except piano's)!!! I always liked the onboard sequencer for songwriting, and it's a fairly easy sampler to use. I certainly wouldn't use it to sample anything anymore, but the library of sounds is still useable in some situations.
