Mullard CV4004

These are Mullard CV4004 preamps tubes that are British Royal Airforce military spec. These tubes are different than the Mullard ECC83 (12AX7) in that they are slightly cleaner and have slightly less edge/gain. However they still have that classic Mullard midrange tone, and they really don't sound a lot different than the ECC83's. There there is a slight different, though. Many people like these in their Marshal Plexi era amps, as well as many 60's Fender Blackface amps. The dating codes on these tubes are on the bottom. 1984 is the year, and indicates that it was made in the 5th week of 52 weeks in the year.
