About Cathedral Stone Music Publishing

Welcome to Cathedral Stone Music Publishing. My name is Mike Braithwaite, and I own and operate Cathedral Stone in North Lake Tahoe / Reno, Nevada USA. The mission of my company is to provide original, unique, high quality music to the film and music industry. Music is available in many different styles from Rock to New Age, and is delivered as a final product that's been recorded, mixed, and mastered in the onsite recording studio to a music CD. MP3 samples of these songs can be heard on the Music page. The 70's music is a particularly a very big era of music influence on my life. The 60's music was a big music influence, as well.

My recording and songwriting experience comes from many years of writing, playing, and recording music in my personal home studio, as well as interacting with other solid musicians. Back in the mid-80's while going to school in San Diego, I was fortunate enough to become very good friends with Eddie Vedder. Although some of our songwriting influences and tastes in music were different (this could be seen in my 70's music CD collection), the passion and love for music was the same. We eventually became roommates in 1990, and occasionally compared song writing ideas, etc. in the upstairs studio. After leaving to join Pearl Jam (known as Mookie Blaylock at that time) in late 1990, Eddie would occasionally return to visit with demo tapes of their first album TEN, and we would discuss ways to improve the songs. He would then return to the studio with his input to the band and producers. This was a great learning process for me as to how a great record is put togther. Some of my suggestions were used, some of them weren't, but it was an invaluable experience none the less.

My musical influences are many. Blues and classical music had a heavy influence in most 60's and 70's British and American rock music. It has certainly been the melting pot of influence on me as a songwriter and musician. These include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Who, The Carpenters, Pink Floyd, Styx, Queen, Journey, Van Halen, Boston, The Eagles, Elton John, ELO, Depeche Mode, all the way to present day progressive alternative rock and new age instrumental.
When listing a group or artist as an influence, I think it's very important to clarify what the specific influence is, and at what point in their career the music had an impact on you. Most artists and bands evolve over time, and that is reflected in their music. Therefore, the following links consist of a more detailed influences list, and clicking on each link will explain them more specifically.
